FEAR GOD

- Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

The Dhinakarans

When you accept the Lord as your personal Saviour, He blesses you with His divine wisdom. He also makes an everlasting covenant with you and gives a clean heart to you (Jeremiah 32:40). In the fear of the Lord, there is a strong confidence and His children will have a place of refuge (Proverbs 14:26).

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogance (Proverbs 8:13). Learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land (Deuteronomy 31:13). It is the Lord who leads us to do good and to obey Him at all times. It is always wonderful and great to abide and live in the Lord. As I often tell, it is the FEAR OF GOD that made Joseph run away from an enticing woman. God saved him from all evil, blessed him abundantly and elevated him to a highest position in that land. Likewise, let us also learn to fear the Lord at all times and receive His abundant blessings in our lives.

In a certain school, one boy always spoke the truth and behaved well. His parents had brought him up in a disciplined way and taught him all the good things in life. However, some bad boys in that school tried to make him tell a lie at any cost and did their best to make him go in wrong ways. So, this boy told all his problems to his mother and wept. His mother was a godly and devout person.

Everyday she placed her son in the hands of the Lord for protection, prayed for him faithfully and then sent him to school. The hands of the Lord were upon this good boy! The more the bad boys tried to make him go in wrongs ways, the Lord caused more problems in their lives.

Finally, they realized that it was the Lord who made them undergo troubles because of their trying to lead this good boy into wrong ways. They stopped harassing him thereafter. This boy completed his school studies successfully and became an example for others to emulate.

Dear Friend! You too may be facing such hurdles in your life. Evil people may try to lead you in wrong ways. Never lose heart. Be steadfast in your faith and remain in the presence of the Lord. He is faithful and will surely establish you and guard you from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3). May the fear of God always guard and guide you (Psalm 32:8; 138:8). Be of good cheer!

Prayer:

Precious Saviour,

It is a great blessing to fear You and walk in Your steps. From today onwards, give me the grace to have fear for You in my heart. Abide with me and lead me in the way I should go.

In the precious and matchless name of our Lord Jesus, I pray.

Amen.
