Comfort to the Broken HeartedSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord Who traversed the painful path of agony and pain will comfort our broken hearts. Beloved! Many times we face circumstances that shatter our hearts and lament over them. But we have a God Who is there to comfort and console our broken hearts.
Many years ago a gentleman came to me and, holding my hands, said, “Brother, while delivering God’s message, I have seen you often mentioning your daughter’s death in a car accident and weeping over her loss. I found it ridiculous because every one born in this world would have to die some day. I would say that he could see his daughter when he gets to heaven. Does he not have that much of faith?
Days passed by. One day, my sixteen year old son fell sick and became unconscious. We rushed him to a hospital where the treatment administered was in vain. He remained unconscious for many days and when one day he opened his eyes and asked me to hold him close to my bosom. I held him close to my bosom and very soon my darling son breathed his last leaning on my bosom! I was shattered! My son’s last words keep ringing in my ears and breathing his last on my bosom are fresh in my memory. Only then I realised your agony of losing darling daughter. Only you can understand my broken heart. I have come to you to pray for me that God should strengthen me to bear this great loss.” I prayed for him in tears because I could understand his pain and agony he was going through.
It was the will of the Father that His son Jesus Christ should traverse the painful path (Isaiah 53:10) to understand our pain and agony in this world. Jesus Christ came in this world to do the will of the Father (Hebrews 10:7,9).
Beloved! Jesus Christ was broken to understand our pain and agony. He gave Himself on the cross for us. He is waiting to comfort our broken hearts. Let us take our burdens and sorrows to Him. He will understand and comfort our broken hearts.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I praise and thank You that You were obedient to the Father’s will knowing You will be crushed to understand my pain and agony in this world. Strengthen me not to crumble in circumstances that cause agony. Give me grace to stay strong. Use me to bring comfort to other people who are traversing the path of pain and agony. I give You all glory, honour and praise.
