The Lord Will Be Your HelpSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Make the Lord your help and you shall have victory in everything. Beloved! You are not alone in this world when you face troubles in your life. The Almighty God will be your help and enable you to overcome them. An exemplary example in the Bible who made God his strength and help was King David. Being a King, he had constant danger from his enemies. But he sought the presence of the Lord earnestly and made the Lord his strength and help. “He is our help and our shield” (Psalm 33:20). That was why the Lord gave him victory over his enemies and preserved him from all evil.
The Bible says King Asa was a righteous King and did right in the eyes of the Lord. Sera the Ethiopian came against Asa with a million soldiers and the strength of his army was greater than Asa’s. But Asa sought the Lord and prayed with faith, "Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!" (2 Chronicles 14:11).
Asa made the Lord his strength and help. The Lord struck the enemies of Asa and defeated them before him.
The Lord will also enable you to reconcile with your loved ones when you seek him earnestly. In the Bible we see that Jacob and Esau were the sons of Isaac. Jacob, the younger son deceived his father and robbed the birth right of Esau when he (Esau) had gone away on hunting. His mother sent him to her brother’s house where he worked for many years to marry his daughters. He then decided to return home and fearing Esau, he pleaded with God saying, “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which you have shown Your servant, for I have crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies….for I him...I will not let not you go unless you bless me” (Genesis 32: 10, 26, 29).
Accordingly, God blessed him and granted reconciliation between him and his brother Esau.
A head of a family faced failures in everything he did. Because of this, he felt dejected in his life. One day, his friend took him to a church. The pastor was sharing his testimony at that time. He said, “I was living with many defeats and failures in my life. But after accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I started tasting victories and successes in my life. The Lord filled my life with peace and joy." On hearing this, the dejected man surrendered his life to Lord Jesus. The pastor’s testimony enabled him to know Lord Jesus. He and his family sought the Lord. They would read the Bible and pray regularly. The Lord started blessing them abundantly. Peace and joy filled their lives and their house became a house of prayer.
Beloved! Even when you commit your life into the hands of God and follow Him, He will help you to overcome the problems in your life, help you to reconcile with your loved ones and bless you abundantly.
Prayer:
Loving Gracious Father,
I cry out to You to be my constant help in my life. Just as You gave victory to King David in everything, grant me victory in everything I do. Preserve me wherever I go. Father, help me to seek You more and help me to do mighty things for You. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.
