Thanks OfferingSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord shall honour and exalt you when you honour Him with your giving. Dear friend, Lord Jesus Christ always delights in a grateful heart. When you honour Him with your giving, the Lord shall honour you too. The Bible says that Jesus Christ forgave a woman, a wicked sinner of her sins. Later, He was dining in the house of Simon in Bethany and was surrounded by the rich, wise and leaders of the society and His disciples. Suddenly this woman brought a precious oil of spikenard and poured it on His head to express her deep gratitude to Him. Many people came to dine with Jesus but she came to honour Him in gratitude of His mercy He showed to her (Mark 14:3-9).
The Lord delights in a grateful heart. When you give to the Lord, He shall honour and exalt you. Your own people may disapprove of your giving to the Lord but do not be disheartened. The Lord will reward and bless you before the world. When the woman poured the precious oil on the head of Jesus Christ as offering, people surrounding Him said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted?”
Many people give importance to the pleasures of the world and spend more money on it than giving to the Lord. Some spend lakhs of money on lawsuits and medical expenses but when they receive a miracle from the Lord, they commit to send a very small amount of money as offering. They fail to realise that they are giving to the Lord. Lord Jesus Christ promises, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you" (Luke 6:38).
The devil will try to prevent you from giving to the Lord. He will work through people or by giving you problems to prevent you from giving to the Lord. But when you are faithful in your giving, the Lord shall give back in a manifold manner and honour and exalt you.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
I come to You in humble adoration. Help me to honour You with my giving. Give me grace to restrain all unnecessary expenses and give more to Your ministry. Give me grace to overcome all the problems in my life. Strengthen me not to get offended by people when they are against my giving to You. Let your blessings flow in a manifold manner in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray.
