FORGIVING FATHER

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: God heals the broken hearts of sinners.

God healed the broken heart of a sinner. Once a Tax Collector went to pray. On entering the temple the burden of sin broke his heart. He was convicted so much so that he could not even pray.

He began beating his chest unmindful of those who were standing there. Keeping his head low in shame he cried out to God. “Lord! Have mercy on me a sinner. Help me break free from the entanglement of sin. It’s true that I have a very good job. I enjoy a good status in the society. On the outward, as the world sees, I look very good but my inside is rotten. I have no peace of mind because of my sins. O God! Help me. My heart is broken” (Luke 18:13-14).

The Bible says, godly sorrow works repentance. God watched him. Who is God? He is merciful and the One who never condemns. (Exodus 34:6 James 1:5) He, the Father of mercies forgives. (2 Corinthians 1:3 Ephesians 2:4) The God with such attributes looked at this man - a sinner and sent His mercies to forgive him. Jesus Christ says that this man who called himself a sinner went back totally sanctified as a righteous man.

Perhaps you have visited this website as a broken hearted person calling yourself ‘I am sinner before God.’ The Lord who looks at your soul will grant you His forgiveness and make you a righteous person. God’s mercies will transform you into a child of God. God says, “My child should not be called an addict, alcoholic, cheater or a sinner. My child should be like Me.” Surely He will perform a miracle in your life.

Prayer:

Almighty God,

I come to You with a contrite spirit calling myself a sinner. Make me righteous just as how You heard the prayer of a tax collector. Sanctify and help me humble myself in Your loving hands this day. May the lust of eyes, pride of life and the lust of flesh have no dominion over me. Keep me like a lamp lit and placed on a stand in this world that is full of darkness.

In the name of Jesus I pray.

Amen.
