FORGIVE AND FORGET Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Love will cover a multitude of sins. The Lord will give you a great victory over enmity and will fill you and your family with His divine peace.
Enmity often shows its ugly head in your daily life and this is particularly common in any family. Ephesians 2:16 says, "And that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity". The Lord won victory over enmity on the Cross.
When Jesus was handed over to be crucified, the authorities entertained enmity against Him. They humiliated Him (Luke 23:35). He overcame the enmity of everyone on the cross. In Luke 23:34, we read, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” With this forgiveness, He destroyed their enmity.
Several years back, a college student caused a lot of trouble in his college. His Principal dismissed him from the college. He joined another college. But, his evil nature did not leave him. He gathered some of the students from his present college and rebelled with the old college and created havoc. The policemen arrested the rebellious students and imprisoned them.
The elders and the college lecturers approached the Correspondent of the college. They asked him about the next proceedings to be undertaken for the imprisoned students. He replied, “Hereafter they will not rebel against us because we will be their guardians. Ask the policemen to release them immediately.” As per the order of the Correspondent of the college, the policemen released the students.
After an hour, the student, who was the backbone of the entire chaos situation, forced his way to the Correspondent’s residence. His approach made everyone to daze. But, on the contrary, he fell at the feet of the Correspondent and said to him, “Sir, I lived an immoral life. But, your love has transformed me. I never dreamt that you would be such a loving person. Please forgive me. Hereafter, I will behave well and will give up all my evil habits.”
The Correspondent of the college was in tears. He felt very happy and embraced him. Today, he is a young man who loves God very much and a successful businessman. He commands the respect of all the people.
In the same way, God will cast aside the enmity between man and God and He will give you new life. When the resurrected Jesus fills your heart with love, you will not pay any heed to the enmity of the people instead you will forgive them.
Dear friend, when the Lord Jesus who triumphed over enmity dwells in your heart, no enmity could ever touch you or affect you in any way. He will give you a great victory over enmity and will fill you and your family with His forgiving love.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I praise and thank You for suffering on the cross to conquer enmity. Even today, may Your divine peace prevail within me and my family. Fill me with Your love so that I can forgive those who come against me. Dwell in me and protect me from all dangers. Grant me Your divine blessings.
All glory, honour and praises belong to You alone.
