MY COMFORTER

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

The Lord wants to turn all our sorrow into joy. He is the One, Who comforts us in all our tribulations. 2 Corinthians 1:4 says, “Who (Jesus Christ) comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Everyone on this earth is pestered by one problem or another. Everyday the devil is spreading his snares to trap people. He is roaming around to see whom he could devour. The people, who seek the Lord and those who do not bother to seek the Lord are both afflicted similarly. Those who do not seek the Lord succumb to the power of the afflictions. But, the Lord God will comfort those who seek Him.

Once, I had been to Australia to minister the word of God in a church. After ministering, I saw a woman, who was filled in sorrow. Her husband came closer to me and requested me to pray for his wife. I approached her and asked her, “What do you want?”

The answer given by her dazed me. She said, “Sir, a few years back, I lost my two young sons in a car accident. I have preserved the ashes of their bodies in a small vessel. I believe that if you could come to our house, lay your hands on the vessel and pray for my two sons, they will come back alive.”

I was stunned by her words. In the next moment, I was moved with compassion and said to her, “Sister, even my loving daughter also died in an accident like your sons.” She was shocked by hearing the sad demise of my daughter. When I prayed for them with tears, I could feel the presence of God filling them and keeping them in peace that the world cannot give shining in their faces. They left the place in great peace and with inexplicable solace.

When we pass through the afflictions, then we will be able to mourn with those who mourn. Romans 12:15, advises us, “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”

God can only give us the peace and console us, when we pass through sufferings in our life.

In Psalm 41:1,2 we read, “Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.”

Dear friend, the Lord would make every one of you who live in tears and comfortless circumstances to arise and shine. He will offer His comfort to everyone who is living in a comfortless life. He will make you to be of comfort to others. You will become a blessing to yourself and others, when you seek the Lord diligently.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I praise and thank You from the bottom of my heart for Your inexpressible love for me. Just as You came to this world to comfort the comfortless. Save me from the fierce winds that blow against me in my life. Make me an instrument to comfort others who suffer like me. Help me to seek You more during my comfortless times because You are my comfort. Guide and guard every step that I take and bless every aspect of my life.

All glory, honour and praises belong to You alone.

Amen.
