MIGHTY NAMESpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: God will answer your prayers at the immediate utterance of His name. Our Lord Jesus Christ has promised us that when we pray in His name, He will give us whatever we ask Him (John 14:13,14).
Many years ago, a mother was living with her son in a small village. One day the mother looked at her son and said, “My dear son, when you face any difficult situation, just utter the name, “Jesus” and you will be saved.” He stored the valuable words of his mother in his heart.
Once, the son was playing alone near to his house. All of a sudden, he saw a cobra nearing towards him, he remembered the words of his mother and cried out His name “Jesus”. Immediately the cobra stood still and moved away from that place and disappeared into a nearby bush. He was saved and his faith has been increased.
He thought for a while and said, “In my distress, Lord Jesus saved me from the cobra.” So, he decided to be faithful to Him. His life was transformed and he committed his life to Jesus Christ. He lived a happy life. And from that day onwards he was a blessing to others.
Dear friend, many kinds of cobras like debts, evil people, problems in the family, infirmities, may destroy your life. In John 16:33 our Lord Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Our Lord is the triumphant God who overcame the evils of this earth and the powers of darkness. Utter His name not only in comfortable occasions but in the circumstances of fear, darkness, weakness, afflictions, confusions, loneliness, despondency or any other disturbing disposition.
Jesus has said in Matthew 18:19, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” He will surely listen to you and answer your prayers. What a privilege you have when you mention the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus!
After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, John and Peter, the disciples of Jesus were proceeding towards the temple to worship the Lord. At the gate of the temple, they saw a lame man, who was asking alms from the people. They did not have any money with them. But, they said to him, “We do not have silver or gold to give you. But we have the glorious name “Jesus”. In His mighty name we command you to stand up and walk.” When they commanded in the name of Jesus, immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. He walked, leaped and praised God! He danced in great joy! Thousands of people watched the miracle, which was received by the lame man in the name of Jesus! (Acts 3:1-9).
Dear friend, do you feel that the evil people disturb your prayers? Do not be disheartened. When you pray in the name of Jesus, nobody can disturb your prayer and when you utter the name of Jesus, your tearful prayers will reach His presence. He will surely answer all your prayers.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
You had overcome the evils of this earth and the powers of the darkness. When I utter Your name, I believe that my tearful prayers will reach Your presence. I submit myself into Your powerful hands. Mould me according to Your perfect will and use me for Your glory. Help me to always remember that without You I can do nothing. Enable my thoughts, words and deeds to be pleasing to You always.
All glory, honour and praises belong to You alone.
