HIS MERCY FAILS NOT

Speaker: Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: God's compassion fails not. It is new every morning.

The Lord is rich in mercies. He loves us so much that even when we fail to be faithful, He is faithful towards us. He revives us with His mercy everyday.

"But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)" (Ephesians 2:4,5).

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3).

The Bible says that He is the Father of mercies. The worldly father sacrifices anything for his child. He does not deny any of his child's desire. "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him" (Luke 11:13).

Our worldly fathers desire to give us our needs. Then how much more our Heavenly Father would desire to give us the things that we ask Him. He is rich in mercies. You can ask your heart's desire to Him.

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22,23).

His mercies are very new every day. There was a rich man, who used to wear new clothes everyday. He discarded the clothes that he wore once. Every morning he loved to wear new suits. Likewise, our Loving Heavenly Father wants us to wear new mercies every morning. His mercies are new every day.

But on the other side, "God is a just judge, and He is angry with the wicked every day" (Psalm 7:11).

Though He is rich in mercy, He is very hardhearted when we sin against Him. He is a righteous judge.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).

"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself" (Ezekiel 18:20).

A soul that sins will surely die. No one can bear the sins of the other.

Once the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery before Jesus. They said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?". Jesus said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first." Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. When Jesus saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." (John 8:1-11). He did not condemn that woman; rather He hated the sin that she did.

Likewise my dear friend, you need not worry nor feel guilty about your life. You need not ponder over your life saying, I have sinned against God. How can I pray to Him? God never hates you but hates the sin that you do. Commit your life to God.

My friend, He is Father of mercies. When you wait upon Him, He will bless you with His new mercies.

Prayer:

Loving Father in Heaven,

Remove all the darkness that is found in my life. I confess all my shortcomings and seek Your forgiveness. May Your divine light shine in my life. Help me to lead a life that is pleasing to You. Bless me with Your new mercies. I make this humble prayer through the divine name of Christ Jesus, my deliverer.

Amen.
