IN HIS NAME

"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:14) Have this promise in your mind always. How can He say that? To understand the power of this statement, first of all you must understand the nature of the person who made this statement. Who said this? Who is the Lord Jesus Christ? He is God in flesh. (1 Timothy 3:16, Romans 9:5; 1 John 5:19-20)

When He lived in this world, people called Him "God with us" because He did what God would do. When Jesus Christ stood before some people He said, “I am only the son of a Carpenter (John 3:13) at the same time I am in heaven seated as the Almighty.” Yes, the same person in two places. Only God has this power. The Lord who is in flesh says looking at you, “My child! If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

To whom did He utter these words? These words were told to His disciples who left their secular work and followed Him. When they came to know that shortly He would leave for His heavenly abode they were shattered. The Lord said, "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them (Luke 24:49-50). Before leaving this earth, He spoke consoling words to His disciples. He asked them, "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they said, "Nothing." Therefore, remembering the fact that He would go back to the Father’s house, He told them, “Anytime, you want anything ask Me. Don’t worry.”

"Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (Jeremiah 32:27) The needs of every individual vary from person to person. Everyone is special and so are their needs.

One day, in a certain church the service was over and the members were counting the offering received for that day. They found a letter written by a small chap addressed to the Almighty God. It read, “Dear Jesus, I need hundred rupees. Please send it without fail.” The elders of the church read it and had a hearty laugh. They sent a money order for fifty rupees hoping he would be happy. The following Sunday he had sent a reply that read, “Dear Jesus, Thank you for sending fifty rupees. However, I had asked You for hundred rupees. I am sure You would have sent it but these church fellows would have taken it. Next time, please don’t send it through these church fellows but send it directly to me.” The Lord Jesus understands and grants the need of every individual.

"My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

Prayer:

Loving Lord,

Please help me not to worry over anything but place my trust in You for anything. You have promised to offer anything that I ask in Your name. The Bible says that Your name is a strong tower and the righteous run to it and they are safe. In the richness of Your glory supply all my needs for this day. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen.
