HE BLESSES MY SOULSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: When the servant of God pronounces and places his hands upon you the Lord grants you the promised blessings. What does God want to bless?
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. (Psalms 121:7) God wants to bless your soul.
As you are aware, many years ago, there lived the mighty Egyptian men of valour called the Pharoahs. The people of world trembled at them but when they died, their bodies were being preserved in the mummified form. Do you know what they would do? They would place the body and embalm it with costly ointment. Every pharaoh before his death would plead with the priest saying, “Please put both our hands across our chest and then bind me with cloth. Bind me tightly in such a manner that my hands are not removed from my chest. ” Why did they say like this? They thought that if their chest was exposed, after their death the evil one may come and steal their soul. Therefore in order to stop the devil from stealing their souls they asked the priest to place both their hands across their chest. They were gripped with the fear that their soul would be stolen.
Therefore, our loving Lord Jesus Christ questions, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Hell and Destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself and opened its mouth beyond measure; their glory and their multitude and their pomp, and he who is jubilant, shall descend into it (Isaiah 5:14).
The Bible says that the gates of hell are wide open around the clock. Why? To swallow the human lives.
Therefore God says that He would build His church upon this Rock and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. That is the reason as to why when you enter the church of God and when the priest (pastor) places his hands upon you to bless the Lord pronounces the blessings that He had promised upon you.
Prayer:
Loving Father,
I thank You because You preserve my soul from all evil and keep me under Your mighty protection. Help me to diligently seek you everyday and receive the blessings that You have promised for those who seek You. Bless me and keep me. Make Your face shine upon me and be gracious to me.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen |
