THE WONDERFUL SAVIOURSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: My dearly beloved, God is a Wonderful person. He is very big, bigger than all your problems. He will manifest His power and solve all your agony and sorrow. Be of good cheer. Before the birth of Jesus Christ, one thousand years ago, there was a prophet by name Isaiah. This prophet said that God would come in the form of a man and He would be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace by the people. Isaiah 9:6
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 3:16, "God was manifested in the flesh," 1 John 3:8 says "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil" and the Gospel according to Matthew 1:23 says, "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
Today we are going to meditate on the name 'WONDERFUL'. What is the significance of this name? What are the blessings God is going to bestow upon us this day? If you read the Holy Scriptures in Judges 13:17-18, the Bible says that even before coming into this world, God's name is Wonderful.
Look at His personality. The Bible says in Isaiah 66:1, Acts 7:49 and Jeremiah 23:23,24 that heaven is God's throne and earth is His footstool. God, the marvellous and wonderful person fills the whole heaven and earth. In other words He fills the entire universe. In Jeremiah 32:27, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" God is a person of unlimited power.
The Bible says in Hebrews 1:3 that God holds the entire universe by the power of His word. In Jeremiah 5:22, He looks at the mighty ocean and says, "Look at the boundary I have set for you. You can never cross this boundary of sand." In Psalms 147:4, the Bible says that He has counted the whole gambit of stars. He has given each star a special name and He calls them by that name. Oh what a Wonderful God we have.
Dearly beloved, in 1 Corinthians 15:41, the Bible says that He has given the sun and the moon each a different glory. An entirely different glory to the stars and between two different stars He has given them a varying glory. Such a mighty person is the One who is always watching over you. Your problem may look like a mountain but He is greater than the greatest problem that you can face. His presence fills the entire universe. Therefore you can never be lonely in this world.
Psalms 46:1, says, "God is our very present help in times of trouble". Yes, He is so near to you. Another wonderful thing is about His life. In Deuteronomy 32:40, God says I live forever. In Isaiah 44:6, He says I am the first and I am the Last.
Once the great prophet Moses asked Him, "What is your name?" He said in Exodus 3:14, Exodus 6:2,3, " I am that I am. I live forever." Oh what a Wonderful God.
In John 5:26, He says nobody created Me nor gave Me life. I produce life for Myself. He is the First and He is the Last. Oh what a Wonderful and Marvellous God we have. What about His personality? How does He look like? The Bible says in Songs of Solomon 5:16, "He is altogether lovely." God is the most handsome person. In Revelation 4:3, the Bible says that He looks like the Jasper and the Sardius stones.
In Nepal, there is a small place called Pokra from where you will see the mighty Mount Everest there. At dawn, when the golden rays of the sun falls upon the snow clad mountain, it appears like a dazzling diamond. God looks like that. He is a Wonderful person in personality.
While building the Karunya Institute of Technology (now Deemed University), the watchman took a torch and surveyed the entire campus of about 600 acres for anything a mess. In a particular place, he saw a Wonderful light descending from heaven and hit at that spot and in that light He saw a Wonderful person. Being curious as to Who that heavenly person with a marvellous and shining face was he tried looking into the face of that person. The more he gazed into the eyes of that person, the figure grew to such an extent that it reached heaven. The watchman trembled and fell down at his face and after several minutes he woke up. Something supernatural had happened to him. This man did not know anything about Jesus Christ but his whole life got miraculously transformed. There was purity in his life. No more did he crave for cigarette or drinks. He became a totally new person. Even today he lives in the same campus. Cent percent totally transformed.
My dearly beloved, God is a Wonderful person. He is very big, bigger than all your problems. He will manifest His power and solve all your agony and sorrow. Be of good cheer.
Prayer
Almighty God,
I praise and thank You because You are called by the name "Wonderful" I request you to manifest Your wonderful and mighty power in my life and solve all the problems which look like a mountain to me. Transform my life today and make me wholly Yours. Help me to delight in Your inexpressible beauty and power.
