NEW LIFE Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Bible says in Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11 and in Galatians 2:6 that God shows no partiality. He comforts all those who mourn. Are you mourning today? He wants to comfort you. Dearly beloved, a great historian called Josephus wrote a beautiful letter to the Emperor Caesar, who ruled Israel at that time from Rome. There he had mentioned, "O Emperor! At present the attention of every body is focused upon a thirty-year-old young man, who happens to be a carpenter by profession. Multitudes gather to hear his harangue. He calls out to the dead from their graves and commands the sicknesses to depart from the body of people. The demons tremble on hearing His words. People folk around Him in great numbers."
The Bible says in the book of Songs of Solomon 5:16, "Oh, He was person of extraordinary beauty, altogether lovely, altogether handsome". In Revelation 4:3 John describes the divine vision he had about the Almighty God, before He would come to this world again. He looks like a Jasper, and Sapphire Stone, so beautiful and marvelous. But when He hung on the Cross of Calvary, why was there no beauty in His countenance and His appearance marred?
Several years ago, I visited Sri Lanka. I attended the funeral of a sister whose brother happened to be my friend in order to console and comfort him. As I stood looking at the dead body, I was shocked. I have seen the faces of so many dead persons having been laid in the coffin. A divine peace would normally be reflected. The face of this particular sister reflected many scars of suffering, sadness, sorrow, and grief for they were the things she had experienced throughout her life. Her face rightly reflected the inner agony of the heart. Later when I asked them as to why her countenance looked in such a way, they said, "Sir, her husband who worked abroad earned a handsome salary. But he spent every penny on drinking and never bothered to send money for his family. His wife (this sister) struggled hard with four grown up children. She begged and borrowed every day and fed her children. Quite often she had nothing to eat and would starve. In great agony she passed away." Her dead body revealed the agony hidden deep down in the inner vault of her soul.
Dearly beloved, this is what happened to the Almighty God. He came into this world in the form of a man. The Scripture says that He gladly passed through all these things but His face reflected the sorrow of mankind. Even one thousand years before, Prophet Isaiah saw through the power of the Holy Spirit and has written down as to how God came into this world and suffered for the sorrows of mankind.
What was the vision of our Lord Jesus Christ? If you read Isaiah 61:2 it clearly states that He came to comfort all those who mourn.
The Bible says in Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11 and in Galatians 2:6 that God shows no partiality. He comforts all those who mourn. Are you mourning today? He wants to comfort you. None of you can escape His comfort and consolation. He has come ready to do that. The Bible says in Isaiah 25:8 "...the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces." Truly our loving Lord will wipe away the tears from each one of you.
When India received independence, Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation wrote thus, My fellowmen who are about to write the constitution of India remember that I want the tears of every Indian to be wiped out. Therefore, write the constitution of India in such a manner that the tears of every Indian would be wiped out.
Our loving Lord Jesus Christ went one step further. In Hebrews 2:9 the Bible says, He tasted death for every one. None of one you should be discouraged for the Bible says, He will comfort you. He will ask you, "My dear son\daughter, what can I do for you?" Stop mourning because He will personally come and wipe away your tears.
He allowed His body to be crushed on the Cross and bore all our sorrows. Stop mourning and look unto the Lord who has carried all your sorrows. He was wounded to give you a new life and a new beginning.
Prayer
Loving Lord Jesus,
I praise and thank You because You gave Yourself to be wounded and crushed on the Cross of Calvary to give me a new life and a new beginning. Help me to focus my eyes always upon Your sufferings on the Cross and know that You will let Your light fall upon me. Grant me the grace to call upon You when I am in trouble and experience the manifestation of Your glory in my life.
All glory, honour and praises belong to You alone.
Amen |
