FEARING THE LORDSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: "He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great" Psalms 115:13. Would your family stand as one unit, which fears the Lord always? The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Psalms 147:11 Psalms chapter 128 describes how the Lord blesses the man who fears Him and walks in His ways by blessing his household. Dearly beloved, just ponder over this question, "Is your family being blessed through you? Or, Are you destroying your family?" Today the Lord stands besides you with all the blessings He wants to give you. Come what may, would you determine to fear Him always? Would you firmly decide that the Lord alone is your portion? Do not be carried away by alcohol, adultery, filth, beauty and anything to do with the pleasures that this world could offer.
"He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great" Psalms 115:13. Would your family stand as one unit, which fears the Lord always?
In Bible, we see two Israelite women (Hebrew midwives) namely Shiphrah and Puah who feared the Lord. The king of Egypt instructed them saying, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live." They nodded their heads to the command of the king but they feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?" God gave them the wisdom to answer the king's question and the midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them." Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty.
And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them. We read this incident in the book of Exodus chapter 1 verses 15-20.
Likewise, when you fear the Lord as Shiphrah and Puah did, and walk in His ways, He will surely see and listen to all that you do and say. Do you want your household to be provided for by God? "He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God." He shall do the same for you and your family.
Dearly beloved, surrender yourself to the Lord. Remove every form of filth from you and lead a holy life, for the One who called you is holy. The Lord will set right all your shortcomings and would grant you a new life.
Prayer
Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name. I praise You for having told me that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. I also thank you for letting me know that the fear of the Lord is to depart from evil. Give me the grace to fear You always in all walks of my life and be blessed immensely by You. Help me to shun all evil activities and lead a life pleasing in Your sight.
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen |
