THE POWER OF PRAYER Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: This wonderful earth can vomit out evil people, who cherish in shedding of blood. My precious brothers and sisters, let us cry earnestly and pray that these things should not happen to our country. If you read the book of Jeremiah, you find that God says: "The land is mourning to me. You people pray asking me to bless the people, bless the whole nation. On the other side the nation is mourning to me." Why is the land mourning? The reason for this is given in the book of Hosea chapter 4:1-2. “Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel, for the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed." The land is saying to God, "I am in agony." Yes, the Land is mourning. Blood-shed upon blood-shed is seen everywhere.
Some years ago, I visited Italy. They took us to see an ancient place called Pompeii. It’s a very beautiful city built on a knoll. History states that the Romans who lived in that particular place were very wicked and led a sinful life. Once in every month, they caught hold of a soldier and offered him as a sacrifice to God for their sins. Even as the blood oozed from the body of that soldier, they would mockingly say, "his blood is cleansing us from all our sins. All the sins that we did in the past is not taken into account anymore. We can continue to lead a sinful life." Dearly beloved, do you know what happened?
A volcano very close to this place erupted very violently throwing everyone into a maze. The molten lava that flowed rapidly devoured the whole city by engulfing everything on its way. Even today, bodies that were wrapped completely by that volcanic matter are being unearthed. They are evidences that this wonderful earth can vomit out evil people, who cherish in shedding of blood. Dearly beloved, let us cry earnestly and pray that these things should not happen to our country. This brings me to the most important question. What is the remedy? How could we remove bloodshed upon bloodshed?
The Almighty God said that He would put an end to this. He Himself came as a remedy. He said, "I will go and shed My blood for My people". Yes on the Christmas day He came down, and He came for one specific purpose. The Scripture passage as found in Hebrews 9:22 says, "without shedding of the blood there is no remission". So the Almighty God said: "Let Me shed My pure blood. Let My blood wash their sins away." In I John 1:7 the Bible says, "the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin". He alone can wash the stain of sin from the hands of the people. Morever, the Bible says in Hebrews 2:9 “He tasted death for every one.’’ Jesus tasted the bitterness of death for every one in this world. He shed His blood for every one and gave His life for you and me. His blood alone can cleanse this land. Only the blood of the crucified lamb can be cleanse the land in one stroke. This is what we need today.
As we mourn and pray for the land, God will bless the land and its government. He will also bless the head of every church and the church members. Hallelujah!

Almighty God!
I praise for You alone can bring healing to this land in which we live in. Help me to first of all offer my supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks everyday for all men, particularly for those who rule us so that I may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. In Your abundant mercy, turn all my mourning into dancing and keep me happy this day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
