SHINING IN LOWLINESS

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: Those of you, who undergo such agony, cling to the Lord as David did when he experienced loneliness and rejection. "..the people who know their god shall be strong, and carry out great exploits" (Daniel 11:32).

"I am desolate and afflicted," (Psalm 25:16) prays David to the Lord when He was much pressed and humiliated. Though David was chosen by God to be the king, he had to experience severe humiliation in his life. (I Samuel 22:1,2). King Saul, whom David loved and respected much, was planning to destroy him by all means. David and his men numbering around four hundred went on a mission. But when they returned to their town Ziklag, they discovered that it was burned down and the enemies had taken their wives and children away as prisoners. They could not hold their sorrow and they all wept loudly. They were furious and rose against David. In their rage they even came together to stone David to death. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God, (I Samuel 30:1-6) and he looked up to his Lord and sought His grace.

Yes, David strengthened himself in his Lord and lifted his eyes to the hills from whence comes his help. (Psalm 121:1,2) Because his faith in His God, David was able to restore all that he had lost not one thing lacking. (I Samuel 30:19).

Likewise, now-a-days we find that innumerable people are left alone to themselves and experience distress and humiliation. Especially, many are rejected or neglected by their own spouse, children and relatives. When the parents become very old many children throw them out of the house and do not take care of the aged sick parents. The old people are heart broken and spend their days in tears and tribulations. Such scenes of humiliation and neglect have become common in these present days. Dearly beloved those of you who undergo such agony, please hold on to the Lord as David had done when he experienced loneliness and rejection.

Tell the Lord, "God, You are my only refuge". He will strengthen you with Hi sloe and affection. He Himself would become your hope and fortress. (Psalm 4:1, 18:6; 59:16, Isaiah 26:16).

"...the people who know their god shall be strong, and carry out great exploits." (Daniel 11:32).

According to Isaiah 25:4, "For you (God) have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible one is as a storm against the wall", the Lord would take care of you and make you shine even in your lowliness.

Prayer

Abba Father,

I praise and thank You Lord for You are near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as those who have a contrite spirit. I also magnify Your name for remembering me in my lowly state. Your mercy endures forever. Even this day, remove my state of loneliness and rejection and turn my mourning into one of rejoicing and dancing. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen
