ONE WHO FINDS LIFE

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: One among the many commandments God gave His disciples when He chose them was, "He who loses his life for My sake will find it and he who tries to find his life will lose it."

"He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:39).

When the Lord Jesus Christ came into this world to perfect the will of God, He chose twelve disciples to be with Him giving them authority to heal the sick and to cast out demons. One among the many commandments He gave them at that time was, "He who loses his life for My sake will find it and he who tries to find his life will lose it."

There lived a very famous rock star in the United States of America. In the year 1994, during one of our visits we happened to read about him in a newspaper stating thus: "Gard GoBain, of Nirvana rock group has broken all the existing records in the sale of his albums! He has become a billionaire in the world and is top listed!" In his interview he has mentioned, "I just love two things on this earth. The first love is my daughter and the second drugs!"

Hardly two weeks had passed by, the same newspaper which hailed the rock star's performance published a shocking news stating that Gard GoBain had committed suicide by shooting bullets into his own head! His temple was so badly blown up beyond recognition. Thus his end was a very pathetic one.

In his suicidal note he had mentioned, "It's better to get burnt than to fade away." Yes, dearly beloved, he thought that stardom is everything. Trying to find life in being a celebrity, he could not accept even a negligible degree of decline in his illustriousness and decided to end his life before any subsidence occurs in his popularity.

Dear friend, today just ponder whether you are following the example of the rock-singer Gard GoBain who was mad after drugs, self-glory, fame and exaltation that this world offers freely and destroyed himself. Ask the Lord to guide you in His divine path and help you to follow His footsteps alone.

Prayer,

Abba Father,

I praise and thank You Almighty God who calls those things which do not exists as though they did. Help me to find true life in Your name. Keep me away from all temptation and help me not to be lured by self-glory, fame and exaltation that this world offers freely. Guide me in Your righteous ways and lead me to follow Your footsteps alone. In the precious name of our Lord Jesus' I pray. Amen.
