HELP IN LOSS

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: As he had believed, the Lord gave him back everything that he had lost, not one missing.

"Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil." Psalm 90:14,15

Saul and Jonathan with 600 soldiers stood against the Philistines in battle. The enemies were in great number. Suddenly Jonathan told the young man who bore his armour, "Come let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few" (I Samuel 14:6). The Lord God who watched their strong faith commanded a trembling in the camp, in the field and among all the people. The garrison and the raiders also trembled. It was a horror set loose by god. The enemies rose against one another and destroyed themselves.

So also at another occasion the enemies of David looted all his people and his belongings and took them away. At that time David and his men wept aloud until no strength was left in them. Even at such a crisis, David, without losing heart looked up to the Lord who is the help and support at the time of loss. He strengthened himself in the Lord with a strong faith that the Lord God whom he worshipped would not forsake him but be of help and support to him in any kind of loss or misery (I Samuel 30:6). As he had believed, the Lord gave him back everything that he had lost, not one missing (I Samuel 30:19).

There was a woman of God called Edgar Woodworth. In her youth the Lord had been constantly instructing her to go and preach His salvation and good news to the people. But she had her apprehensions and hesitated asking herself, "how could I perform the Lord's ministry on my own?" She got married and became a mother of six girls. But one child after another was taken away from her to the Lord's presence. Her husband was a simple man who did not know God. After the death of five children, her husband was always finding fault with her. But even in such moments she strengthened herself in the Lord and remained calm. At last they were left with one daughter only. She dedicated herself to the Lord and offered to do the Lord's ministry. Though there was much trial and tribulations at the beginning of her ministry, as she humbled and offered herself for the will of God whole heartedly. A large number of people accepted Christ and enjoyed salvation through her ministry. They cried aloud, repented, confessed their sins and thereby became new creations in Christ.

Dearly beloved, be glad and rejoice. This year the Lord would give you two fold of blessing everything that you have lost so far. Brush aside the worry that nags at the back of your brain. God will fulfill all your needs. He will bless you with much more than you wish for in prayer.

Prayer

Gracious heavenly Father,

I praise you for You do not break a bruised reed nor quench a smoking flax. I request You to help me have firm faith in You and inherit all the blessings which You have in store for me this day. Keep me far away from the worries and cares of this day and let Your peace and joy fill my soul. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen
