God's Dwelling Place

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: God will abide in your house when you are bonded together in the love of Christ. When you surrender yourselves to Him with the unity of spirit, He will dwell with you in your home. Your family will be blessed forever.

After the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, when two of His disciples were going to a village called Emmaus, Jesus joined them on their journey. He was conversing with them as they walked along, little realising that it was their Lord who was their Companion. But they constrained Him to stay with them saying, "Abide with us, for it is toward evening and the day is far spent." Jesus went in to stay with them. As He sat at the table with them, He took bread blessed and broke it and gave it to them. Instantly their eyes were opened and they understood that Jesus was their guest.

Friend, the same Christ desires to dwell in your home. He promised us, "Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20). When you and your family pray with one mind, He will be in your midst and He will bless you and your home.

“The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his entire household. Now it was told King David, saying, "The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.” (2 Samuel 6:11,12)

David, as he was afraid of the Lord had sent the ark of the Lord to Obed-Edom, who received and kept it in his house with the concurrence of his family. When the ark was in that house which displayed one accord in terms of the Lord, God blessed his house and all which belonged to him.

"This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it." (Psalm 132:14)

Dear friend, is your home not been blessed so far? Seek the Lord the one accord and invite Him to 'Abide in our house.'

"Now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You have blessed it, O Lord, and it shall be blessed forever." (1 Chronicles 17:27)

Just as David acknowledged his blessing in these words, confess to our Lord. He will bless your home abundantly. Definitely, "He will bless your bread and your water" (Exodus 23:25. Psalms 132:15).

Recently, when I had been to a town, a kind sister lovingly invited me to visit and dine at her house. Her great love fascinated me. She treated me as her own sister, during my visit and gave me a dinner. What she then told me impressed me very much. She confessed, 'Madam, you told us in a prayer meeting that we should thank the Lord before having food and that we should request Him to bless our food. From that day not only I but my children also offer our thankful prayer to the Lord at the dining table.'

Friend, how many of you do the same? Whatever food God gives you, may it be even water, surrender it at His hands and pray, 'O Lord bless this food and we thank You for Your gift of this food.' Just try this! He will accept your offering and multiply your food. He will perfect your inadequacies. He will bless your off-springs too (Isaiah 44:3).

He will make them 'godly off-spring' (Malachi 2:15). All of us should be able to say, "My children have been taught by God and they are His children." Perhaps, even if they go astray, He is mighty enough to change them. Commit your children into His hands! Do not stop seeking the Lord as soon as a child is born to you. Instead, add to your joy of having the child, a greater happiness of surrendering your child to His hands everyday.

Dear friend, God will abide in your house when you and your family are bonded together in the love of Christ. When you surrender yourselves to Him with one accord and with unity of spirit, He will dwell with you in your home, bless your bread and water and your generations. Your family will be blessed forever.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I thank You for protecting me like the apple of Your eye. I welcome You to come and dwell with me. Help me to lift up sacrifice of thanksgiving before I commence my work. Thank You father, for giving me food, clothing and shelter. Bless my family and me. Grant me Your grace that my home will be blessed abundantly by You. In Jesus, matchless name, I pray.

Amen.
