Trust God Always

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: Trust the Lord in all kinds of situations. Seek Him fervently. Thank Him for the good things you received and you are going to receive from Him. God will bless you and He will abide in you. He will fill you with all good things.

Abraham worshipped God with his family; consequently he received several good things from Him.

Abraham's ancestors including his father Terah "served other gods." (Joshua 24:2) God called Abraham, who was the son of such a man as Terah, by name and blessed him (Genesis 12:1,2)."And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?"(Deuteronomy 10:12,13). As stressed by the fore-going verses, Abraham had the fear of God in his mind; he walked in His ways; he loved Him; he served Him with his whole heart and soul; he observed His commandments and directions; that was why he received abundant blessings from God.

Friend, do you feel that your life is filled with distress? Are you depressed because you are devoid of blessings in terms of money, material necessities of life, children, work, peace of mind etc? Be of good cheer! The Lord promises that He will do good to you and shower His blessings on you if you live, following the example of Abraham, obeying His commands with fear of God in you, loving Him and walking in His ways. The Lord never withholds His promises; He is truthful.

At the time when God promised Abraham, 'I will bless you', he didn't have a child and both he and his wife Sarah were quite old, Sarah's womb having been 'closed'. Quite an impossible situation. But God assured Abraham: "No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations"(Genesis 17:5).

All doings of God are amazing! Is it not an astounding proposition to promise ripe old people, 'You will become the father of many nations.' "And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God."(Romans 4:19,20). The wonderful fact is that God 'calls those things which do not exist as though they did' (Romans 4:17).

I recall now how my husband was struggling for life in 1969; the doctor's assessment was that he would live only for a month. In that crucial situation, my two children were too young. I had no one to be my companion. I knelt down at the feet of God and pleaded with the Lord with the Lord with tears. Wonderfully, the Holy Spirit filled me and asked me: 'My daughter, times will be when your husband will be used mightily in the ministry; will you co-operate with your husband in his ministry at that time?" This is only a reminder of what He had already told me several years back. When I realised the implication of those words, there sprouted in me an invincible faith that God would certainly raise up my husband. Immeasurable joy pervaded my heart. I was overwhelmed by a new divine peace. The Lord did so confirming my faith. Only after this miracle, 'Jesus Calls' Good News Meetings commenced! The Lord began to use my husband mightily in His ministry. I too started to give him my co-operation in all possible ways. All things, impossible for men, are possible with God. Is there anything too hard for God? (Matthew 19:26; Jeremiah 32:27).

"Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!"(Psalms 31:19).

Nothing, truly, is impossible with God. He gave a son to Abraham, who was one hundred years old. (Genesis 21:5) He made him a patriarch of countless people. 'Let us (also hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful' (Hebrews 10:23). In Him all blessings are full.

David professes, "Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all."(1 Chronicles 29:12). What we have to do is simple; let us trust Him in all kinds of situations. Seek Him, as David did, 'Evening and morning and at noon' (Psalms 55:17). Thank Him for the good things you are going to receive from Him! He will bless you, abiding in you! He will fill you with all good things!

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You are my only hope. Please do not forsake me. Build my family by helping me at this time. Help me to seek You at all times as David did. Enable me to thank You always. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.

Amen.
