No More Darkness

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: Jesus is the source of all light. His disciples become reflectors in a darkened world, transmitting through their lives the true light of the eternal Son of God. If you believe in Him you too will become the light of the world.

"You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness." (1 Thessalonians 5:5)

Several allurements like 'the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life' fill our lives, wrap them up in darkness and restain us from approaching the Lord (1 John 2:16).

Job, who was called 'a blameless and upright man' by God, made a covenant with his eyes and pledged to walk in ways pleasing to the Lord (Job 31:1). So, there was no room in him for lusts of any kind. We should also make a covenant with every organ in our body and resolve to flee from all the lusts of this world. Even jealousy and hatred make one stray from God and walk into darkness.

"He who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness." (1 John 2:11)

Eve, 'the mother of all living', was attracted by the one fruit which God had forbidden to eat. As her lust overcame her she lost all the blessings that she was enjoying from God. She was driven from the presence of God. "For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in darkness, like those who have long been dead." (Psalm 143:3)

Dear friend, the devil is roaming about seeking ways to drag us somehow into darkness from the bright and glorious presence of the Lord. But if we commit ourselves to the Lord who is mighty to bring us out of darkness into light and accept Him in our hearts forever, forces of darkness like lust and hartred will lose their hold over us and God's light will stream into our lives.

Jesus Christ said, "I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness." (John 12:46)
"He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him" (John 8:29). Let us also follow Jesus.

My dear friend, you need temperance and holiness in your life. Our consceince tells us clearly what is right or wrong in our speech and conduct (Romans 2:15). When we do only what is pleasing to the Lord, His presence will abide with us. When the perfection of His presence comes into us, all our imperfections will vanish (1 Corinthians 13:10). When we commit ourselves to God, His presence will fill us to the extent to which we are united with Him. His traits will come into us. He fills our hearts with His divine love. He makes us peaceable (Isaiah 26:3). He releases us from the shackles of lust and sanctifies us.

Recently one sister had written to me, "I am married and have children. Yet, there keeps ringing in my ears a voice asking me to remarry a particular person. I do not know if it is the voice of God." Does not it sound strange? Will God ever ask a married woman to marry someone else? Will He desire to break down a family? It is the devil that tries to break our homes today. That is why we see the 'darkness' of factions and fights everywhere. Is this 'darkness' within you? Jesus says, "I came as light so as to bring you into light." Do you desire to receive this light?

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)

My husband once sang for a gramaphone record captioned, "The Lord in your home" depicting an ideal home as it would be, if Christ were to come into it. A sister from a neighbouring country played it in her house. A question there arose in her mind, "Will the Lord come to my house as well?" Jesus who knew the longings of her heart, went to her house and knocked at the door. The sister ran and opened the door to find Jesus robed in white, standing on the door step. She was bewildered at the sight. Jesus entered the house, placed His hand on everyone of the inmates and blessed them. He then vanished from their sight. Great was the joy that welled up in the family! Today, all the members of the family live as God's children.

"And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags." (Isaiah 64:6)
"Christ Jesus became for us wisdom from God; and righteousness and sanctification and redemption." (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Jesus desires to shower His blessings when He comes into us (Colossians 2:10). Do you perhaps say, "It is a wretched life that I lead. Is there any redemption for me?" It is to redeem you that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came down to this world and offered His life. The devil may say perhaps,"Your sins are red as scarlet! There is no redemption for you." But Jesus says, "My child, it is for you that I was nailed to the cross. I shed My blood and offered My life only for you." So, be of good courage. Be not troubled. The Lord is your sun and shield. He will dwell with you and lead you along the perfect path. Plead right now.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

Please transform my life. Grant peace in my home. Make Your light shine upon me and my family. Lord, come into our midst and brighten our home. I make this prayer in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.
