Fulfillment Of God's PromiseSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord has given us many promises for our lives. Let us claim His promise in our daily prayers and wait patiently for the Lord to fulfill His promises in lives at the ordained time. The perfect work of patience can be found fulfilled in the life of Abraham. God gave a wonderful promise to Abraham saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you" (Hebrews 6:14). The Holy Scripture says, "And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise" (Hebrews 6:15). The promise did not get fulfilled overnight. He had to wait patiently for it.
Dear friend, the Bible says, "He had made everything beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). If the Lord has given you a certain promise, He will take His own time to fulfill it. You may become restless to see that the promise of God has not been fulfilled. But God says, "I will certainly fulfill it. My dear child, be patient and wait for the promised time." God called Abraham and said to him, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be" (Genesis 15:5). What a great and marvellous promise!
God said these words before the birth of his long waited son, Isaac. The Lord God also told Abraham, "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years." (Genesis 15:13)
The Almighty God said all these things to Abraham, before Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac. God foretold how Abraham's descendants would be slaves in another country and serve there for four hundred years. This had been decided by Him. When you read Exodus 12:40,41; Galatians 3:17, you will note that what God predicted really happened. The predicted state of slavery lasted for four hundred and thirty years. God said four hundred years, but the Scripture says that it was only after four hundred and thirty years that they were delivered from their bondage and moved out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses. The difference of thirty years has been explained by theologians in this way, "God gave this promise to Abraham, when he was seventy five years old. It was only two hundred and fifty years later that Isaac was born. Isaac was appointed as a heir to Abraham only five years after his birth. So when the four hundred years are taken to commence after this initial period of thirty years we have four hundred and thirty years in all.
The book of Exodus 12:41 says, "And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years; on that very same day; it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt." God knows His time. He has appointed a time to fulfill His promise that He had given to each one of us. The promises that God has given you will surely be fulfilled exactly at the time He has ordained. Let not your heart troubled.
In the city of Hyderabad there is a famous museum called 'Salar Jung Museum'. In that Museum there is an interesting clock. If you see the dial of the clock, you feel as if you are looking at a village. The small wheels run here and there, what looks like a blacksmith's forge. One blacksmith would appear to be placing a steel rod before another blacksmith from moment to moment. That fellow would be seen to take a hammer and go on beating the rod. It is really a beautiful scene! And near the blacksmith's forge there is a small hut. When the time shows 11.56, the door of the hut would open and a man would come out. He would stand there for two minutes. He would be looking at you and at the blacksmith simultaneously. It is only a doll! And exactly at 12'o clock, he would go to the bell hanging there and would ring it twelve times. Then he would go back into the hut and the door would shut by itself. What a marvellous sight!
Dear friend, if this little inanimate doll can come out at the right time, will not the all powerful God would come to your rescue at the right time? Do not be dismayed. He will surely come at the right time. Wait for the arrival of the Lord God patiently. Be patient till the time or the day that the Lord has ordained to fulfill His promise given to you.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
Graciously grant me the gift of patience. Whatever may be the failures, sorrows, troubles that I have face in my daily life, help me to face them with patience and overcome them successfully. Teach me to be patient till the promises that You have given me in my life be fulfilled. Help me to believe that You will grant me new strength and will lift me up from my lowliness when I wait at Your feet patiently. I make this humble prayer through Jesus, my King.
Amen. |
