Mighty GodSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: I was very weak and timid. But after the Holy Spirit filled me, fear, shyness and defeat which vexed me disappeared. I became a new person. The Lord granted me success in my studies, in my life and in the ministry. "His name will be called Mighty God" (Isaiah 9:6). When Jesus lived in this world, His own people saw the signs and miracles which He performed and were astonished and exclaimed, "Where did this Man get this wisdom and how He is able to do these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter's son?" (Matthew 13:54, 55; Mark 6:2,3). They did not accept that Jesus is the Mighty God!
A certain man brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus and cried out, "Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him. And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father." (Luke 9:38, 39 42)
Those who saw the signs and miracles performed by Jesus were amazed at the majesty of God and began to praise Him. His disciples and the multitudes who saw His miracles and mighty deeds publicised them and followed Him (Luke 19:37, 38). He did all the miracles and mighty deeds as He had received the power and anointing from His Father.
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38)
The Holy Spirit is mighty and strong like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, like a flood of mighty waters overflowing (Isaiah 28:2).
Dear friend, the Lord wants you to know that He is the 'Mighty God' and that He would do mighty deeds for you. You may not be in a position to realise how mighty the Lord God whom you worship is, but God will prove it in your day to day life, if you implore Him to come and dwell in your heart and life.
I was very weak and timid. But after the Holy Spirit filled me, the fear, shyness and defeat which vexed me disappeared completely. I became a complete new person. The Lord granted me success in my studies, in my life and in the ministry. I used to dread facing even a small group of people. But the Holy Spirit emboldened me to stand before thousands of people and preach His word. He performs miracles using me as an instrument to the glorify His wonderful name. When people write letter to me or talk to me over the telephone, acknowledging what the Holy Spirit has done for them through me, I rejoice in the Lord.
Long back a young man from Trichy came to meet me. He said so happily, "Brother! I wrote to you a few days back that I suffered a lot without any job and sought your prayers for me. You prayed and replied me that God would surely give you a job. Now, I have got a good government job."
Another sister had written to me so ecstatically, "Brother! For so many years my marriage was being thwarted. I lived unhappily and sought your prayers for me. You replied to me encouragingly saying that God would not let me down. Accordingly, the Lord performed a great miracle. My marriage is settled now."
Friend, the One who performs these miracles is the Holy Spirit who is within me. Implore Him to come and fill you and do wonders and mighty deeds in your life and through you in others' lives. He will fill you and make you realise that He is Almighty!
When you come to know and believe who Jesus is, He will fulfill His promise in your life. He will set you free from all bondage. He will manifest His power through you. May our Lord Immanuel be with you!
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
You are the One and only Almighty God. There is nothing impossible for You. I surrender my entire life at Your holy feet and plead You to fulfill all the plans that You have for me in my life. I am weak Lord, but You are strong. Please fill me with Your power. Let me learn what a mighty God You are. I give You all the glory and honour.
Amen. |
