Trust in the LordSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Trust God with all your heart. Be faithful in the work given you by God. Let not your heart be troubled. Lean on Jesus wherever you may be placed in your life. He is ready to exalt you at the appointed time. We read in the Bible about a man called Joseph who lived in this world, trusting God alone. Joseph had no one to help him. Attached to Potiphar's household as a slave, he worked faithfully. He might have expected Potiphar to release him, so that he could soon have a good future and live in a house of his own and raise a family. But he was thrown into prison for a crime that he had not committed. There again he was faithful in trusting God. Even when he was put in the prison he did not deny God. He did not even murmur or grumble against God.
One day the King's chief butler was also sentenced to imprisonment and came to that same prison where Joseph was. There he had a dream and Joseph filled with the Spirit of the Lord, gave him its interpretation that he would soon be released and restored to his office. He then requested him, "Remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house. For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon" (Genesis 40:14,15). Joseph's interpretation proved to be correct. The King's butler went out of the prison, but he did not remember Joseph's request. His own brothers, his colleagues, those who had received benefits at his hand, all had forgotten him. He had no one to help him. Even then Joseph did not let down his faith in God. He held fast to God.
As it is said in the Bible, Joseph believed that "All things work together for good to those who love God" (Romans 8:28). With the sure faith that the Lord would not forsake him, he lived faithfully, looking up to Him every day for redress. The Lord did not forsake him. God saw the trust that Joseph reposed in Him and exalted him.
My dear friend, you may not have much learning or any high status in society. Even then, be faithful in the work given to you by God. Your Heavenly Father knows your needs. So do not be disheartened when you are down and out in your job. When the Holy Spirit of the Lord comes upon you, you will be a witness to the world. He wants to exalt you as His child experiencing His power and splendour, His treasures and glory, so that you can proclaim to the world that there is nothing more that you need in this world. So, let not your heart be troubled. Lean on Jesus wherever you may be placed in your life. He is ready to exalt you at the appointed time.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You were with Joseph and exalted him at the right time. I plead to You to do the same to me as I put my trust upon You. I trust You and You alone. Bless me in such a way that the hurdles and problems that satan brings in my life become stepping stone for me to grow more in You. Honour my trust, O Lord! I make this prayer in the wonderful name of the resurrected Saviour Jesus.
Amen. |
