The Spirit of God fights your battles. But if you think that it is out of your own ability, your failure is not far off. King Saul clothed David with his armour. He put a bronze helmet on David's head. He provided him a coat of mail. Wearing all these, David could not walk, because it was new for him. David took them off and told the king, "Send me as I am. I am used to fight only with a sling and smooth stones." David strongly believed, "The Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's" (1 Samuel 17:47).
When Goliath looked about and saw David, he said with disdain, "Am I a dog that you come to me with sticks?" But David answered, "I am going to overcome you not with these stones or this stick as you think, but in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defiled. For, the battle is the Lord's. He will fight for me. I know I am young and inexperienced, but my Lord will grant victory for Israel through me and give you into my hands."
The Lord of hosts says, "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit." (Zechariah 4:6)
Very often, people think lightly and talk loosely of the Holy Spirit. But remember, "When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him" (Isaiah 59:19). It is the Holy Spirit who gives you the victory.
I once read an amusing story. A cock and an ass were close friends. One morning, as they were so happy together, a hungry lion came that way. Perhaps, it had prayed, "Give me this day my daily bread." On seeing the cock and the ass, the lion was so happy. It began to roar. As it was about to strike the ass, the cock began to crow loudly in fear. One thing which the lion cannot stand is the cock's crowing. So, it turned back and ran in fear. The ass thought that the lion was scared by seeing it! It began to bray out of joy, and ran behind the lion, chasing it. The cock tried its best to stop the foolish ass, but it was of no avail. After sometime, the lion turned back and saying to himself, "Even after I withdrew, the Lord is so graciously sending this ass after me." He caught hold of it and feasted upon it.
Friend, how often we too think like this! When we have some advancement, we conclude that it is all due to our ability. You may be praising yourself of your wisdom and saying that there is none to excel you. You are wrong. Your victory is because there is someone to fight for you. He is the Holy Spirit. You can achieve nothing without Him.
Invite the Holy Spirit into your life. He will dwell in you and do everything for you. Receive Him today! He will meet all your needs, fight on your behalf, strengthen you and grant you His grace to receive His blessings. He will grant you a bright future and exalt you in your work. He will never let you down. None can resist Him.

Loving Heavenly Father,
I come to Your holy feet in the name of Your only Son, Jesus. Give me the grace to know Your divine will in everything I do. Teach me to humble myself before You and give glory to You alone in all my successes. Help me to act according to Your will. I ask this in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
