Be Comforted in the Lord

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: The words of comfort that worldly people are of no use; they only add to our agony. But comfort yourself in the Lord. When you put your trust on Him, you will never be put to shame.

A few years ago, my husband fell sick and experienced very hard times and the doctors said that he would die any moment. At such times, it was only the presence of the Lord that gave comfort and peace to my family and me. As my husband was about to undergo a major surgery, I, along with my son, prayed for him. The Lord ordered a divine peace in our hearts. He comforted and strengthened us. In all such times, I trusted only in Him. I fasted and cried out in prayer. I had no mind to meet anyone or see anybody's face. I never waste my time in idle talks. So, I did not go about for any comfort that anyone could give by his or her mere words. My only comfort was to offer my tears at the feet of my Lord. I did so and encouraged myself. God made me brave enough to face the situation with a strong mind and heart. I rejoiced in the Lord as He filled my heart with hope.

Dear friend, let your trust and hope be only in God. Pour all your tears at His feet and not in front of any human being. During any crisis in your life, be assured of the presence of Jesus to give you divine peace. Are you weighed down with sorrow and burdened with care as to when and where your problems will submerge you? Fear not! The peace that He gives is freely available to you.

In Daniel 6:10, we read about how Daniel prayed thrice everyday to the Lord. His enemies plotted to accuse him of breaking the king's decree of not to worship any God besides the king. But he knelt down on his knees three times a day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since his very young age (Daniel 6:10). The Lord gave His divine peace to Daniel.

"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." (1 John 4:4)

In my early days, my husband's prayerful life inspired me to draw close to God. He would not waste a single minute. Even if he could find one spare minute, he would immediately spend it in prayer. On seeing him, we all began to pray. That was how our house became a powerhouse of prayer.

Dear friend, tarry alone in the Lord's presence. Seek the Lord through your prayers. You will receive His power and His divine peace. Problems may arise on all sides. When troubles come, you may become dismayed and ask, why things went wrong. But on the other side, the Lord is awaiting you to grant you His divine peace. The longer you remain in His presence, conversing with Him, the greater will be your joy and blessings.

"We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed." (2 Corinthians 4:8)
"For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears." (2 Corinthians 7:5)

When you stand up for Christ, you will surely face great afflictions. Everyone in the world may rise up against you. But do not fear! When you stand firm in the Lord and determine to live a holy life, for His glory, you will find your enemies run away from your presence. The Lord takes care of all your needs. You will live victoriously.

"When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." (Proverbs 16:7)

When you seek God and talk to Him, He will make even your enemies to be at peace with you. The Lord will make you the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13). He will exalt you.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

When the troubles of this world confront me and try to overcome me, increase the faith in me. Father, help me to come to Your presence and find the rest and peace that You grant to those who trust in You. Relieve me from all the cares of this world. Exalt me before everyone who rises against me. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray.

Amen.
