Christ Who HealsSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: Jesus is alive. He will touch your heart which is filled with sorrows and grieves. When Jesus touches you, all your struggles will disappear forever. By His stripes we are healed. In the Bible, we read about king Hezekiah tormented by a disease. The Lord sent prophet Isaiah to him. And Isaiah said, "Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live." Hearing this he turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the Lord, "Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness" (Isaiah 38:17).
Once we had been to the city of Bangalore for a meeting. That night it rained heavily. We finished the meeting early and got into the car. When we were about to leave, a man with a four-year-old child in his hand tapped the window vigorously. He shouted, "Brother, please do not go." We asked him the reason. He said, "This child can neither speak nor hear. This infirmity is killing my child. Please lay your hand on the child and bless him."
Out of the thousands of letters we receive everyday, majority of them would be prayer requests for sickness. Jesus knows this sorrow which sickness brings. When He was in this world, many came to Him. He had compassion on them and healed their sickness (Matthew 14:14). He allowed those who desired to touch His garment and they were made well (Matthew 14:36).
One day, Jesus was preaching in a Synagogue. And behold, there came a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years and was bent over. She could, in no way, raise herself up. She did not come to Jesus; but came to that Synagogue. Looking at her, Jesus sensed her infirmity and His heart melted with compassion. "Oh! Satan has tied her for eighteen long years and has made her suffer with pain." He called her immediately and laid His hands upon her. People who were against her getting healed surrounded them. But Jesus did not mind anything. He wanted to cure her even at the cost of His life. So, He laid His hands upon her and healed her (Luke 13:10-13). This is the love of Jesus.
Many times, people think, "Oh! That meeting would be crowded. We will not be able to meet the preacher. It is enough if Brother Dhinakaran touches me, I will be healed. But how is it possible to meet him in that crowd?" But people forget that it is Jesus who heals. Jesus who healed that woman is with us even today. He will appear before you today. He will compassionately touch your heart which is filled with sorrow and grief. When Jesus touches you, all your struggles will disappear. Not only that, He gave His body to be broken, for us to be relieved of our struggles forever.
"He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness." (Matthew 8:17) "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief." (Isaiah 53:10)
The Bible says that God made Him suffer. To that extent He bore our sins and sicknesses. The Roman soldiers thrashed His body and whipped Him. They lifted the rugged cross and laid it on His shoulders, which brought forth blood from fresh wounds. His head was crowned with thorns; nails were driven into His hands and feet; His side was pierced by a spear; He hung on the Cross with blood oozing out from all parts of His body. His body was torn for us! So He knows our struggles and the intensity of our sufferings.
Are you worried, thinking, "This disease torments me, and the doctors have lost all hopes"? Do not worry. Jesus who has borne our sorrows and grieves is with us. Jesus is alive even today. He will cast away your sorrows. Not any man, but He who has borne your sickness brings healing to your body and soul.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
I am tormented by sickness. At times, I am filled with pain and sufferings. Father, You alone are my strength. You alone are my physician. Fill my heart with peace and love. Strengthen me and sustain me. Touch me with Your loving and powerful hands and heal my sickness and weakness. Lord, there is nothing impossible for You. Heal me completely by the power in the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. In Jesus' matchless name, I pray.
Amen. |
