Life and Power in God's WordSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: When sorrow or grief cloud your life, God's word comes to comfort you. There is life and power in God's word. They will speak to you. Start to search the Lord in truth. When sorrow or grief cloud your life, God's word comes to comfort you. There is life and power in God's word. They will speak to you (Hebrews 4:12; John 6:63).
God's word exhorts you saying: "Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord" (Psalm 34:11).
Therefore when we accept His word, in the first place we have to say, "Lord, come into my heart and my home." Secondly, we have to do whatever we can do for Him. Thirdly, we have to read and meditate upon His words carefully. So, do not waste your time saying that you have too much work to do and no time for God's word. Instead read the Bible whenever you find time. Search Him in truth.
"The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth." (Psalm 145:18)
Check up whether He is near to you; whether you are able to feel His presence; whether you can feel Him when you are traveling by bus or train or in flight. When you read His word and search Him in truth, He is near you. Your face becomes radiant when you look up to Him (Psalm 34:5).
When you accept Jesus into your heart, His divine peace will abound. In this world of sorrow and strife, when we become God's children, there shall be no tears, but happiness all the time. So, run to the Lord today. Do a small earnest prayer in your heart, "Lord, the time I take to read the Bible is very little. I always concern myself with my family and work. I do not seek You or look to You in prayer. Please grant me Your grace." The Lord will grant you His peace right away. Your life will abound with peace.
Jesus said, "And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him" (John 8:29). When we call upon Him, He will be with us and rescue us from all danger and honour us.
Many years ago, floods hit a big town and many houses were washed in the waters. Only one house was not damaged. The people of that house had taken some of their belongings to the terrace and were praying there. Everything was kept safe. Later, one day, when the employees from nearby places went on rescue operations with clothes and food, they were surprised to see this one house undamaged. Do you know what the indwellers said? "God saved us miraculously. We have given our lives fully to Christ and we are living for Him alone". What a surprise! God saved them even in floods.
In the same way, you too may have to face distress and grief. But you have no reason to fear at all.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
I come to Your presence and place myself at Your holy feet. Look upon me, Oh Father. Have mercy upon me. I spent many hours for worldly things and spent very few minutes to read Your Holy Word and for prayer. Please forgive me. Grant me the grace to wait at Your feet. Father, help me to choose the righteous way. Teach me to pray with strong faith and be steadfast in my everyday life. In Jesus' loving name, I pray. Amen. |
