The Greatest LoveSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord Jesus came into this world to give His life for us; because, He loves us so much. He gave His life for us. If we visualize the scene of Him hanging on the cross, our hearts would break into pieces. The Lord Jesus came into this world to give His life for us; because, He loves us so much (Galatians 2:20). The Bible says, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13).
When the Jews came to the Garden of Gethsemane to arrest Jesus, Peter, the disciple of Jesus, cut off the ear of the High Priest's servant with his sword. At that time, Jesus said to Peter, "Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53). He could have asked His Father for help; but He did not; because He wanted to fulfill the purpose of sacrificing His life.
The President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln liberated the slaves from slavery. Alas! He was shot dead by wicked people. During his last journey, thousands of slaves wept bitterly. At that time, a woman, who was liberated from slavery, lifted her little daughter above everybody and cried out with a loud voice saying, "Daughter! Have a last look at the man who died for you. You are free today, because of him."
Likewise, Jesus Christ gave His life for us. If we visualize the scene of Him hanging on the cross, our hearts would break into pieces.
Many years ago, a Prince of Germany went to see the Buckingham Palace. As he was looking at the pictures of the Kings who ruled over England, he saw the picture of Jesus Christ hanging on the cross. On top of the picture, it was written, "Jesus Christ, the King of kings". When he read it, he wept bitterly. He saw that the other kings were seated on the throne with golden crowns; but Christ was hanging on the cross with a crown of thorns. At that time, his eyes fell on a statement that was written below the picture: "I did it for you." That broke his heart. When he knew that Jesus loved him and He sacrificed His life for him, he said, "Lord, You become the King of my life today; I give my life to You now." He was blessed by the Lord and the message of love entered into Germany through him and spread all through the nation.
Love grants eternal life. The Bible says, "We shall receive a hundredfold blessing in this world and eternal life in the world to come" (Matthew 19:29; Luke 18:30). For this, we have to love Him all the more (Deuteronomy 6:5; Matthew 6:33).
Once, I read the life history of a twenty-year-old young man George Williams, who lived during the nineteenth century. He committed his life to God and took a vow saying, "Lord, if You promise me that You would be with me, I would love You with all my heart and keep myself holy." Then he got a job in a draper's business. Since he worked very hard, the proprietor was much impressed with his honest life. He wondered how the young man was able to lead a holy life, while other young men indulged in worldly pleasures and sinful addictions. He understood that the reason was that God was with him. He too committed his life to God. The two joined together and tried to lead the other businessmen to lead a holy life. This young man grew up to be the founder of Y.M.C.A. in 1844. God prospered all his endeavours including his ministry. He led many young men to the love of Christ. Then he married the proprietor's daughter and settled in life. With his earnings, he established this organization all over the world. Though it was founded 150 years back, it still exists. The reason for this is, "George Williams loved Jesus Christ at a young age and surrendered his life totally to Him."
Even today, my dear friend, turn your heart to God. If you tell Him, "Lord, come into my heart", He will gladly come and dwell in your heart. And you will receive the eternal life and live with Him eternally.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
Come into my heart. Since You loved me, You came into this world. Let this love be born in my heart today! Make me holy by Your blood. Help me to lead a holy life and also lead others to Your holiness. I surrender all my needs and desires into Your hands. I know that You will fill me with all Your blessings all through my life and grant me eternal life to my soul. All praise and glory belong to You alone.
Amen. |
