A Knock At the Door

Gist: How is it possible for a family to be blessed from generation to generation? It is possible when God has a place in that family. When Jesus comes into our heart and home, the fruit of love will be seen in our lives.

"Their descendants shall be known among the gentiles, and their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the posterity whom the Lord has blessed." (Isaiah 61:9)

A family in a village used to go to church every Sunday together as a family. The neighbours used to proudly comment about them, "What a sight it is, to watch you going to church together! We are able to see the oneness, the love and harmony in relationships in your every action. You are truly a people blessed by God."

How is it possible for a family to be blessed from generation to generation? It is possible when God has a place in that family. The Lord Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." (Revelation 3:20)

Two things need to be noted in this. One is that it reads, "If anyone... opens the door." The Lord enters a heart only when the person opens the door of his heart for Him. The other noteworthy point is, "He stands at the door." He is always there. When we open the door, He enters. The man who lives in the fear of God opens the door for the Lord.

The Lord says, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word." (John 14:23)

A man who loves God, begins to read God's word. The Bible contains many commandments, such as "Walk not the evil way"; "This is the right way"; and so on.
"Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith." (1 Timothy 1:5)

When we have a pure heart, a good conscience and sincere faith, God comes to dwell in us. We need to love one another. When we walk in the fear of God, the Father and the Son will come to stay in us.

Dear friend, how is your life and your home today? What importance are you giving to the Word of God? Do you love to read the Word of God whenever you find time? Do your children have easy access to the Word of God? When you give due importance to God's word, your home would be pleasing in God's sight. The Lord will enter your personal and family life. Your life would then bear much fruit (John 15:8).

Parents, teach your children to lead godly lives even when they are very young. God will then be with your children and bless them all through their lives. Today, many parents give serious thought to make their children as doctors and engineers. But first of all, strive to teach your children to live as God's children. Only then they will lead a fruitful life, for His glory. Their future will be glorious.

The Word of God says, "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35). When the love of God is poured into your hearts, you begin to love one another. No confusion or chaos exists in such a relationship. Love is found in abundance. Misunderstandings may arise in a home when arguments arise. Even then, no anger, vengeance or separation can take a foothold. When Jesus comes into your heart and your home, only then the fruit of love will be seen in your life.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I now know that You have been standing at the door of my heart and knocking. Today, I open my heart to You. Lord, enter into my heart and my home. Make me clean and holy by Your presence. Lord Jesus, fill my heart with love. Let love rule my heart and the heart of everyone in my home. Let peace prevail! I pledge to give You first place in all walks of my life. Lord, let Your name alone be glorified in heaven and on earth.

Amen.
