In Times of Need

Gist: God wants us to be content with what we have and not to worry about our needs. Further, He also assures us that He will never forsake us. If you believe in Him, He will meet all your needs.

God wants us to be content with what we have and not to worry about our needs. Further, He also assures us that He will never forsake us.

"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich." (2 Corinthians 8:9)

My dear friend, Jesus is surrounded by riches that you cannot even imagine. But He left all that and came down as a poor man, so that you might become rich. Today, He is able to wipe out your debts, your tears, and your problems. He will work a miracle and release you from the problem that you are right now in. Not just removing them, but He carries our sorrows.

"Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted." (Isaiah 53:4)

In the Garden of Gethsemane, every man's sorrow and grief was cast upon Him. Unable to bear that agony, He shed sweat of blood (Luke 22:42,44). Therefore, He understands your heart's agony even today.

When I was working in the State Bank of India, an elderly woman brought a fixed deposit account receipt and said, "Sir, I wish to draw some money from this account." The cashier took the receipt, verified the balance and said, "Madam, you have already withdrawn all the money." She was shocked! That account was her only savings and she had not used anything of it. She requested the clerk to verify it once again. When he brought the ledger and showed it to her, she was taken aback to find that somebody had forged her signature and taken away all the money. "What will I do now?" so she wailed and fell down unconscious.

The pressure of grief and sorrow is sufficient to kill a man. Knowing this, Jesus gave Himself to bear all our sorrows, in the Garden of Gethsemane. How much He would have suffered when the Roman soldiers whipped Him; when a crown of thorns was placed upon His head; when He was beaten on the cheek; when nails were driven into His hands and feet! In spite of knowing that He would have to undergo such agony, He chose to be born as a man and to bear all distress and strife. It is all for the sake of us, His children.

My dear friend, He understands your agony. Take courage! The Lord says, "My child, whatever may be your need, only believe in My promises. I will never leave you nor forsake you." Do you believe Him? Put all your burdens upon Him and He will give You divine peace. He will meet all your needs.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

I remember all the sufferings that You underwent in the form of man. You took upon Yourself all my sins and bore the punishment that I was supposed to bear. In You, I have a resting place. The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death." You are the One who has paid the cost for my sins. I accept this salvation today and confess that the life I live now is Your gift. I place all my problems and burdens at Your feet. Lord, grant me divine peace in my heart. Help me to overcome all temptations and meet all my worldly needs. I bow down at Your feet and honour Your name.

Amen.
