Glory of the Spirit of God

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and that is why He could work miracles. When God abides in us in the form of the Spirit, He transforms us like Him.

The Bible says concerning Jesus, "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him" (Acts 10:38). He was anointed with the Holy Spirit and that is why God was with Him. The demons feared Him; sickness fled; and all powers trembled before Him!

Dear friend, we are not orphans in this world. When we are filled with the Spirit of God, the world has to bow before us. Because the Bible says, when the Spirit of God comes into us, "we are being transformed into His image" (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are ordinary people physically. As said in Romans 8:26, we are weak. But when the Spirit of God comes into us, we are strengthened.

What about Joseph? He was imprisoned with a false allegation. But in Genesis 39:23, the Bible says that the keeper of the prison knew that the Lord was with him and whatever he did prospered. So he handed over the full responsibility of the prison to him and he fully confided in Joseph. Joseph was sent to the prison unjustly. But God exalted him even in that prison, because the Spirit of God was with him. Joseph had the Spirit of God with him. Though the Pharaoh did not know anything about the Spirit of God, he saw that there was something unique in Joseph. So Pharaoh testified concerning Joseph, "Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?" (Genesis 41:38).

Many years ago, an illiterate maidservant lived in a rich man's house. Her name was Anne and she was a short-tempered person. She used to throw and break things in her fit of anger. But other times, she would be a good-natured girl. So however angry she might become, they still kept her in that house owing to her good nature. One day, she was at the peak of her anger. She knelt down and cried. "Lord, why should this anger come into me? Will not You help me?" The Lord heard her wailing and filled her immediately with His Holy Spirit. Her life changed in a moment's time. As the days passed by, the gifts of grace were bestowed upon her. She took over the management of the rich man's house. People came from far off places seeking her advice concerning their future. She became a famous person there. People called her "Holy Anne". When she died, the Mayor of that city and all other higher officials said, "We will carry her coffin so that we may be blessed." She was exalted even after her death.

That is the glory of the Spirit of God. When God abides in you and me in the form of the Spirit, He transforms us like Himself and reveals Himself through us. So let us always seek the anointing.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have failed in many ways in my life. I have many shortcomings by which I cannot think of being Your child, but it is by Your abundant grace and mercy that I am still in Your fold. Father, fill me with Your Spirit and grant me the anointing by which I can become a useful vessel for Your service. I wish to reveal Your glory, Father, and I give myself to You for this purpose. Through Your Spirit in me, reveal Yourself to the world through me. I seek the blessed anointing in my life through Christ my Lord.

Amen.
