The Lord Will Never Forsake You

Gist: When the Lord's presence fills you, believe that He is with you. Be of good cheer and courage. Cling fast to the Lord, trusting that He will do everything for your good. Read the Bible with a thirst to understand God.

In the Bible, we read about a slave woman named Hagar. We see how much she suffered and how much tears she had shed in loneliness. She was discarded by her own family. But our Lord is One who commands light to shine out of darkness (2 Corinthians 4:6). What a gracious God we have!

"When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me." (Psalm 27:10)

This is something very true. Even if your parents forsake you, my friend, the Lord will accept you. We are living in days when even parents discard their own children. The Holy Scripture says, "Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you." (Isaiah 49:15)
"A Father of the fatherless, a Defender of widows is God in His holy habitation." (Psalm 68:5)
"God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity." (Psalm 68:6)

When we have a God who grants us such great blessings, why should we worry?

Hagar sat in loneliness, worried about her future. She saw darkness all around. She lost hope. Those who loved her had forsaken her altogether, and her child was about to die. She had none to help her, comfort her and she did not know where she could go. She thought that she had come to the end of her life.

Very often we too become discouraged like Hagar. We fear and tremble saying, "Alas, there is no one to love and comfort me. Even my parents and relatives poke fun at me. I wonder what is going to happen next in my life." But our Lord says, "My dear child, I came to grant you a bright future instead of the dark life you lived in the past."

My dear friend, do not grieve. Do not be disheartened. The Lord promises you and me, "From this day, I will bless you" (Haggai 2:19) and He will surely bless you as He has promised.

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." (2 Chronicles 16:9)
"Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you." (Psalm 55:22)
"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time." (1 Peter 5:6)
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9)

The love of Our Lord is great. He is a God who "sees your tears". Hagar testified, " You are a God who sees me." He will come to your rescue at the time of your need.

A young sister came to see me one morning and she said, "There is none in my home to show me love. My husband also does not understand me. My parents-in-law are all against me." The tears of such lives are really unbearable. But the Lord says, "In all their affliction I am afflicted" (Isaiah 63:9).

Dear friend, you may not be able to see Jesus with your physical eyes. But when the Lord's presence fills you, He comes to you and you can feel His presence with you. Do not be afraid of darkeness or loneliness. Cling fast to the Lord, trusting that He will do everything for your good. There are many who believe only if they see a vision. They will run here and there anxious to hear some prophesy from someone. But they do not know the truth that when you pray to the Lord, He comes down to listen to your cries. He is a God who sees you.

My dear friend, the Word of God is our comfort. Make use of the time you get to read and meditate on the Bible. Read the Bible with a deep desire to know Him. God will then assume the responsibility for your life. He will shower His blessings on you abundantly.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I very often face loneliness and tears in my life like Hagar. You alone are my hope and strength. You are the Lord who sees my tears. When my parents, friends or relatives forsake me, help me to remember and believe that You will not forsake me. Give me the desire in me to meditate upon Your Word everyday. Help me to cling to you in faith and feel Your loving presence all the days of my life. I pray this prayer in Jesus' gracious name.

Amen.
