Escape from Fear of Sin

Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: The darkness of the devil, sin or wickedness cannot remain where Jesus the light and the Saviour of this world dwells. When Jesus comes into you, He spreads His light in your life.

Once, when Jesus went to Capernaum and when they heard that Jesus was in a certain house, some people brought a paralytic man lying on his bed to Jesus to be healed. Perhaps his feet and legs had ceased functioning. Jesus saw the faith of those men. He said to the paralytic man, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house" (Matthew 9:6).

"The eyes of Jesus are like a flame of fire (Revelation 1:14). He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him (Daniel 2:22). He had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man (John 2:25). Jesus, who had such power in looked intently at that paralytic man alone. He saw the sins within him which made him suffer in such sickness. He then, told the paralytic man, "Son, your sins are forgiven you" (Mark 2:5).

When we read the first book of the Bible, Genesis, we read that Lord God came in the cool of the day to walk with Adam and Eve. But Adam and Eve, hid themselves from the presence of the Lord among trees of the garden. The Lord called to Adam, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9). Adam replied, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself" (Genesis 3:10).

My dear friend, very often the gods of this age blind our minds (2 Corinthians 4:4). We languish, unable to get release from their clutches of sin. When we sin, we are unable to extricate ourselves and are pushed deep down in the pit of sin. It was to raise us from this lowliness that Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God came down to this world. "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Timothy 1:15). To draw unto Him all who labour and heavy laden and grant to them the gift of grace, the God of Gods took the form, bearing the name "Jesus" came to this world (Romans 5:15). Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20).

When a father comes home from his work so tired, we see little children keeping awake till he returns. When the sound of his vehicle is heard, the child would comes running and hug him. When the father sees his child, he would forget all his tiresome feelings, regains freshness and he rejoices.

My dear friend, in the same way, when Jesus comes into our hearts, the darkness of sin, fear and anguish take to their heals. A divine radiance and peace surges within us. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). The darkness of the devil, sin or wickedness cannot remain where Jesus lives. Jesus, who is the light of the world, comes within us and makes us spread His light around us.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

Release me from the bondage of sins. I desire to live a life that is pleasing to You. Lord, remove the darkness from my life and fill me with Your holy light, so that Your light may spread through me to people who are in need of Your light. Gracious Lord, forgive my shortcomings and help me to be perfect like You. Help me not to return to my old and sinful life. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray.

Amen.
