The Heavenly MissionSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: Having love and compassion for those who are deeply burdened is the ministry of the Heavenly household. It is for this mission that Christ has called us. Let us unitedly fulfill this ministry. Sometimes, when I ask youngsters, "Brother, having passed the professional degree, where are you working now?" and they reply saying, "Uncle, I am helping my father in our family's profession." In the same way, there is a profession for our heavenly family also.
When Jesus was a twelve years old lad, He went with His parents to the temple in Jerusalem. When the services were over, His parents returned home. But Jesus stayed back. Three days later, they searched for Him and at last they found Him still in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions (Luke 2:46). When His mother asked Him, "Son, why have You done this to us?" He replied, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?" (Luke 2:49). He meant that He should do His father's business. It was for very purpose He had come down to the earth.
What is our Heavenly Father's job? What is the ancestral profession of our Heavenly family and of our heavenly household? We can find the answer to these question in Psalm 147:3."He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3)
Christ also, when He came down to this earth said that He came to fulfill His Father's mission.
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed" (Luke 4:18; Isaiah 57:15; 61:1). This is the business of our Heavenly Father, our family and our Elder Brother.
Look at our Elder Brother, the gracious Lord Jesus. He comforted those who were brokenhearted by their load of sin. He rehabilitated them. He healed those who were suffering from various diseases and sickness. He released those who were caught in the chains of the devil and restored them a fresh lives filled with peace,joy and happiness. So, many are the miracles that he performed to comfort and cheer the broken hearted.
On October 10, 1962, I saw Jesus Christ face to face. He filled me with the Holy Spirit. He said, "My son, I have filled you with my compassion. It will fill your life and will overflow to reach others. Whenever you pray for my people out of compassion, I will do all that you desire for them."
My dear friend, when someone tells me of their problems, the compassion of Christ will descend on me. The burden cast upon the dear person would descend on me and oppress and squeeze my soul. When people tell me their woes, my heart bleeds and sets aflame. I pray, "Lord Jesus, perform a miracle right now. They should not suffer any longer."
I was once preaching in a church and just to prove that Christ is alive. I asked a few youngsters to come to the front. The Lord granted His grace for me, with the power of Christ, to probe into the heart of one of the young man. I came to know that it was life of lived in extreme pain and agony. I told him, "Brother, you have been living in great affliction and even now you have the mind to commit suicide. But God blesses you. The next moment the compassion of Christ came upon me. Even without my knowledge, I embraced him. A few days later, he wrote a letter to me saying, "Brother, I am an orphan. I have never known any love. But that day, when I leant on your bosom, I felt as if I was leaning on the bosom of Christ. The same day, Christ transformed my life."
My beloved friend, when the power of the Holy Spirit, the compassion of Christ comes into us, quite unaware of it, we express the love of Christ and speak words of comfort. This is the ministry of the Heavenly household. It is for this that Christ has called us. Let us unitedly fulfill this mission of our Heavenly Father.

Loving Heavenly Father,
Thank You Lord, for making me a member of Your Heavenly Household. Pour Your love and compassion into my heart, so that I too will be filled with compassion for others and take part in their difficulties and sorrows. Change my life that I may do the profession of the Heavcnly household here on earth. In Jesus' magnificent name, I pray.
