You Are God's HouseholdSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: God has accepted you to be a member of His wonderful household. Your Spirit and the Spirit of Jesus are knitted together. Be of good cheer. Be not anxious nor be disheartened. "The soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David" (1 Samuel 18:1). The life of Jacob was bound with that of his youngest son, Benjamin (Genesis 44:30).
So also, "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him" (1 Corinthians 6:17).
My dear friend, from the day, you receive the Holy Spirit, your spirit becomes one with the Spirit of Christ.
A young magician was performing some remarkable feats which thrilled his audience. He would make a man lie down on a table, cut him into two halves and then by magic, he would join the pieces and make the man stand alive before all. One of the press reporters met him and inquired how he could perform all those feats. He said, amidst tears flowing from his eyes, "Sir, people call me by my father's name. He was a great magician. One day, while performing a magic show in a town, he was caught in an accident and he died. My heart broke. I then had no other means except to take up my father's profession to earn my bread. I cried and cried. Then I had an assurance from my father. Everytime just before I begin my magic show, I would remember my father and cry out in tears. At once, my father's spirit would enter into me. It is not I, but his spirit that performs all these feats."
It is the same situation for us too. When you are in despair and cry out, "I am unable to do anything. My plight is so miserable", do not be disheartened because your spirit and the Spirit of Christ are knit together. The Holy Spirit will enter into you. He will perform miracles for you.
My dear friend, you are not an ordinary person. You belong to the household of Christ. There is a Father who is concerned about you. The Almighty God is your Father. There is the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who tells of you, "This is my own blood and my own flesh." He is the one who knows all your pain and is your Elder Brother. He loves you so much that He laid His life on the cross for you. The Holy Spirit the Comforter is waiting anxiously all the time to help you. So, do not grieve. It is the greatest joy to be there united with the household of God.
Let us understand that we are the members of this great household. Let us start our day with a prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to come and dwell within us, to give us wisdom and guide us. He will surely come and reveal Himself to us. He will give us victory in everything that we do.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
You have accepted me to be a member of Your wonderful household. I thank You with all my heart for giving me Your son to be my Elder Brother, who understands all my pains and sufferings. You have knit my Spirit with Your Spirit. I surrender myself completely to Your will. Hold my hand and lead me on the path that You have prepared for me. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray.
